The Adult Day Service Program at Hooverwood may be just what a family member is looking for if they are caring for an elderly relative at home. The Adult Day Service Program focuses on the participant's individual needs. Supervised activities are provided which offer recreational, spiritual, social, educational, and stimulating opportunities for the participant. The program meets in a warm, comfortable day room with a spacious outdoor patio, a gazebo nearby, surrounded by a lovely, tranquil garden at Hooverwood.

Well-balanced, tasty meals and snacks are provided. There is an on-site registered dietitian who can help with special diets. Licensed nurses are available daily to administer medication and to monitor vital signs. The Rehabilitation team: Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapists are available on an out-patient basis, with a physician's order to maximize physical and cognitive functioning. Bathing can be part of the service. There is a beauty salon on site. Transportation can be provided if the participant lives within a 5-mile radius of Hooverwood by a wheelchair equipped van. Dental services can be arranged. A Geriatric Psychiatrist is available with an appointment. Licensed Social Workers can support the family with counseling if needed. The program has been in existence for over twenty years. Hours of the program are flexible.

The Program Assistants provide an array of both small and large group activities, which concentrate on keeping the participants involved and stimulated. There is also quiet time with relaxation techniques and music. Field trips are a popular component of the program. A purpose of the program is to enhance self-esteem of the participant by assisting and encouraging them toward independence and a good quality of life.

A participant's family member summed it all up by saying, "I don't know what I would have done without the Adult Day Service Program. It has truly been a life-saver for both my husband and me".
